Printing stickers on a larger scale is a little bit different from printing a document at home and has some terminology that most are not familiar with!

All our stickers require some amount of safety trim. Our standard by default is 1/8″ (0.125″). We are not able to precisely cut to the edge of the design, these are typically known as decals or transfer stickers which we do -not- produce.

Common terms we use via email when reaching out about artwork include:

Cutline: This is the area around your artwork that will be trimmed off during the cutting process.

Safety trim: The space between the edge of the art and the cutline of the sticker (aka: margins)
*Our standard safety trim is 1/8″ for the most visually centered sticker once peeled up. We default to this whenever possible during processing. Anything slimmer will come with a warning at the top of the proof.
Note that a slimmer safety trim does not mean the art will get cut off! The offset is just how centered the art will be visually within the cutlines.
For example: If your requested sticker size is 3″x3″, your artwork (not including the canvas/artboard/bounding box) size should be 2.75″x2.75″.

Bleed: The space extending out past the cutline to prevent any slivers of white from the vinyl showing on the edges. This areas will be trimmed off.
For example: If your requested sticker size is 3″x3″, your canvas size should be at least 3.25″x3.25″.

If your sticker does not have a background it will still require a safety trim but bleed is not necessary. We prefer to create our own cutlines so it not necessary to include it in your artwork.
