Have no fear! Or do! But be very brave about it!
Safety trim warnings are to ensure everyone is fully informed on what to expect when printing designs with safety trims under our recommended 1/8″
Safety trim is the space between the art (all art, including the handles or outer pieces) and the very edge of the cutline, or the sticker itself, once printed.
We do our best to calibrate our machines to get as close as possible to centered cuts, even with slim safety trims, but physical media can have a mind of its own. Cutlines under 1/8″ have a higher risk of looking offset, even if subtly, when cut out of physical media. Proofs like this will always come with a safety trim warning at the top of the proof. There is a risk of items coming out not perfectly centered when we apply the slim safety trims. However, this is more common in die cut stickers. There is less support for the sticker itself, and that can result in offsets.
Though, even with that risk, slim safety trims are a very common request! They also tend to come out looking very nice, passing our quality control with little to no issues.
We have noticed that kiss cut stickers tend to have higher rates of accuracy! So sticker sheets with slim safety trims work especially well!
Sometimes we recommend safety trims outside of the normal range of 1/8″ from sticker edge to artwork. This helps fit many items onto smaller sheets or many items in general. With sheets, more is more! You are paying for the entire surface area of each sheet, so we always recommend getting the most out of that.
Below is an example of a 4×4″ sheet with slim safety trims.
The peel-away sticker has what we call a 10pt safety trim, or 0.07″. This width also works very well on die cut stickers, so feel free to request it on any type of vinyl!

TLDR: if we recommend this, we encourage you to trust the process. ☻We genuinely care and take our time to problem solve and find out what works best.
